The COVID-19 pandemic and the risks associated with it have created an emergency for the homeless veterans in Pittsburgh. At Veteran Place of Washington Boulevard, we are devoted to the health and well-being of one of our region’s most vulnerable populations, so we have chosen to keep our doors open during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During this time, many other homeless veteran support services have closed. To remedy this problem and remain steadfast in our mission of ending homelessness among veterans, Veterans Place will remain dedicated to staying open and serving our veterans. Our van will continue to pick up homeless veterans from the streets and shelters every day to bring the back to our campus on Washington Boulevard.
At Veterans Place, we have sanitation and protective gear protocols in place to ensure the safety of our veterans and staff to prevent the spread of COVID-19. With the support of our community, especially during a time of emergency, we can continue to serve our veterans in the safest and most effective way possible.
