At Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard, we would like to thank those in the community who have donated in support of our Veterans during this difficult time. As we remain open to provide on-site face-to-face services to our Veterans, we understand that many people are still sheltering in place at home.
To help you pass the time while the stay-at-home order is still in effect, here are a few tips for keeping busy:
During this time of quarantine, many museums are offering free online tours and classes. For example, the Google Arts & Culture Collection includes the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the British Museum in London, and hundreds of other history, art, and science exhibits. The free tours and classes are a great way to learn more about history, art, and science from the comfort and safety of your home.
Fitness companies are also offering free workouts online. Companies such as Planet Fitness and organizations like the YMCA are now offering free workouts to members and nonmembers. From live Facebook workouts with Planet Fitness to a variety of free programs on the YMCA’s website, you are sure to find a workout that you enjoy! Whether you want to try out yoga or take an advanced fitness boot camp, these online workouts are a great way to keep healthy and active.
Many of the stay-at-home order permit everyone to go outside to ride a bike, walk, hike, or garden, just be sure to keep a 6-foot distance from others. A breath of fresh air can help you relax and clear your mind while soaking up the sun’s rays can trigger your Vitamin D production, which is a crucial vitamin for protecting your body against inflammation, lowering blood pressure, and improving brain function.
