Veterans Place is attending the 2020 NCHV Annual Conference in September

Veterans Place Housing

Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard will attend the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV) Annual Conference being held on September 14th – 18th and September 21st – 25th.

The conference will be held virtually this year due to COVID-19.

This conference is the largest gathering of community-based service providers who work with veterans experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. The theme of the conference this year Honoring the Past, building the Future.

What is the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans?

The National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as a resource and technical assistance center for a national network of community-based service providers as well as local, state, and federal agencies. These providers and agencies offer emergency and supportive housing to veterans as well as food and health services, and job training and placement assistance. They also provide legal aid and case management support for hundreds of thousands of homeless veterans.

NCHV is considered the nation’s leading authority on homeless veterans’ issues by several departments and agencies of the U.S government. They have worked on projects in partnerships with the VA, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, DOL, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

This organization has also helped develop and increase funding for homeless veteran-specific programs, including the VA Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program and the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program. Each of these programs is currently funded at their highest levels of all time.

How Veterans Place Benefits from the NCHV Annual Conference

Veterans Place attends NCHV to better provide services to our veterans, particularly through the GPD Per Diem and HVRP Grants, of which they offer assistance and guidance to best utilize funds to serve veterans.

NCHV connects service providers to necessary resources to address barriers that face homeless veterans. They also assist Veterans Place and many other veteran organizations with guidance and information about program development, administration, governance, and funding.
