Veterans Place to hold their annual Veteran Palooza celebration on Veterans Day

Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard will hold their Veteranspalooza event on November 11th at their facility. This event is held for the veterans who participate in the Veterans Place programming to provide them with a day of recognition and fun. The mission of Veterans Place is to empower veterans’ transition from homeless to home, ending the cycle of homelessness, and to assist all at-risk veterans to become engaged, valuable citizens who contribute to their communities.

“Having a dedicated day to recognize the heroes of our country is the least we can do. Veterans Place strives to provide veterans with an environment that fosters fun, community, respect, and service. Veteran Palooza is a way for the veterans to let their “inner-kid” out, play some games, win some prizes, eat great food, and connect with their fellow veterans. It is so important to create the space and opportunity for veterans to have moments like this, moments to see the good, feel the love, and be recognized for the sacrifice they made. Moments like this can make an everlasting positive impression on a Veterans life, and that is what Veterans Place is here to do,” said Shannon Hagy, Executive Director of Veterans Place.

This event will feature carnival games, a caricature artist and balloon artist, raffle prizes, and a special visit from the Pirates Parrot. The Pittsburgh Smokehouse food truck will be at the event to provide lunch for the veterans on behalf of the Elks Club.

Registration for the event begins at 11am and closing remarks will be held at 3pm. To learn more about Veteran Palooza, contact Shannon Hagy, Executive Director at 412-363-0500 x218 or shagy@veteransplaceusa.org.
